The training process for AI models is a high-pressure, repetitive task that may easily lead to burnout. At Sama, we sought to transform this high-pressure process into a sustainable experience for the thousands of data workers at its core, without compromising quality or the human-in-the-loop concept. We redefined the work environment to reduce cognitive load and incorporated design solutions that promote focus and well-being.

As a new wave of generative AI workflows began to take shape, we saw an opportunity to influence their evolution with people at the forefront. Our dedication to user-centric design also inspired groundbreaking linguistic research, such as an examination of the challenges of developing AI for low-resourced languages.
